Dan Belliveau Memorial Service Award
Dan Belliveau was a faculty Member from 1998 to 2020. He was a founding member of the School of Health Studies and served as its Director. He devoted many years of dedicated service to UWOFA, his most significant contributions being as Chair of the Pensions & Benefits Committee, Deputy Chief Negotiator, and President. It was in large part through his efforts that the Wellness Spending Account and many improvements to retirement benefits came to be. In carrying out these roles, he stood out not only for his diligence in serving his colleagues effectively, but also for his welcoming approach to leadership and building the UWOFA community by warmly encouraging colleagues to participate.
His outstanding contributions throughout his career brought him impressive accolades including the Edward G. Pleva Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Allan Heinicke Memorial Service Award and the CAUT Dedicated Service Award. In nominating him for these awards, his colleagues emphasized his integrity and his embodiment of qualities of fairness, sincerity, virtue, decency, and the highest moral ethics. He was devoted to fulfilling his roles to the absolute best of his ability and with full consideration for his colleagues.
This award recognizes exceptional service to UWOFA while adhering to high standards of integrity. The outstanding quality of a nominee’s contribution may derive from the result of a single project or activity or the accumulation of efforts through consistent involvement over a long period of time. All current and former Members of UWOFA are eligible for the award.
All Members of UWOFA are eligible to submit nominations. Recipients will be selected by the Executive Committee of UWOFA based on outstanding contributions to the Association either through a single project or activity, or the accumulation of efforts over a long period of time. Recipients may choose to receive the award on a cash basis; as a grant to be expended over a period of up to three years to support research; or to advance their academic career by supporting reimbursement of expenses including but not limited to travel, equipment, and professional development.
